Bond role for Naomi Watts
Could the 'King Kong' star be playing a Bond girl in the forthcoming 'Casino Royale'.
Jan 9 2006
Naomi Watts is the latest actress tipped to step into the kinky boots of the next Bond girl.
According to Ananova, producers were so impressed by her performance in King Kong that they want her to star opposite Daniel Craig ('Layer Cake') in Martin Campbell's adaptation of Bond novel 'Casino Royale'.
Watts has already reportedly received a phone call from Eon Productions inviting her to screen test for the role of Russian vixen Vesper Lynd.
However, sources say she is likely to turn down the role for fear of the 'Curse of the Bond Girl', which has been blamed for Halle Berry's lack of major hits since she played Jinx in 'Die Another Day' in 2002.
Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson have all already declined the role.
And with filming due to start next month, the only 'Bond girl' to have confirmed so far is Dame Judi Dench, who returns as M, the head of MI6.
