'The Da Vinci Code' heading to Cannes

The film adaptation of the publishing phenomenon will premiere at the French festival.

Jan 23 2006

The 59th Cannes Film Festival will host the world premiere of 'The Da Vinci Code' on May 17.

The eagerly anticipated adaptation of Dan Brown's hugely successful book will screen at the French fest two days before it is released worldwide.

France is a fitting venue for the 'The Da Vinci Code'  to make its debut as French stars Audrey Tautou and Jean Reno star in the flick, while filming took place in and around Paris last year, most notably inside the Louvre.

The premiere is set to be a star-studded event, with director Ron Howard and stars Tom Hanks, Ian McKellan, Alfred Molina and Paul Bettany all likely to attend.
