Fancy applying some 'Hairspray'?

New Line are launching an open casting call for their forthcoming remake of the John Waters' classic.

Jan 27 2006

New Line cinema has launched an open casting call for their forthcoming movie musical 'Hairspray'. Based on the John Waters movie of the same name (and the hit Broadway show it spawned), the filmmakers are currently in talks with Billy Crystal, John Travolta and Queen Latifah for leading roles.

But they are also looking for actors to play Tracy Turnblad (female, Caucasian, 16-21, extremely overweight, singer/dancer/actress), Seaweed (male, African-American, 16-21, excellent dancer and singer) and Little Inez (female, African-American, 10-13, excellent dancer and singer). Unfortunately, being, Caucasian, 28-years-old and possessing two left feet and a voice that sounds like a small boy trapped in a lift, I don't stand a chance.

However, if you think you've got what it takes to razzle dazzle them, auditions take place in Atlanta, Gotham and Chicago in February, with shooting set to start in Toronto and Baltimore this summer. For more information, head to the 'Hairspray' Nationwide Casting Search.

Is there any possibility that there will be any other auditions for extras or for the chorus. If so that would be great!! Posted on Jul 07 2006 03:30
