Sundance 2006 - winners announced

'Quinceañera' and 'God Grew Tired of Us' sweep the board at the independent festival.

Jan 30 2006

Two films won the top four prizes at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

'Quinceañera', a tale of disaffected Latino youths coming of age in the Echo Park district of Los Angeles, won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for a dramatic film.

And in the documentary category, 'God Grew Tired of Us', the tale of three Sudanese boys who sought refuge in the US when their homeland was ravaged by civil war, won the same two awards.

In the World Cinema category, '13 (Tzameti)' won the dramatic Jury Prize and 'No.2' the Audience Award, while in its documentary counterpart, 'In the Pit' was awarded the Jury prize and 'De Nadie' the Audience Award.
