Executive produce this!

Nick Love is offering the general public the opportunity to finance his next film, 'Outlaw'.

Jan 30 2006

Ever fancied yourself as a big shot movie producer? Well now director Nick Love is giving you just that opportunity, inviting the general public to help finance his next film, a vigilante story entitled 'Outlaw'.

Love ('The Business', 'The Football Factory') and production company Vertigo Films are part financing the 'Outlaw' through a tiered payment scheme on the film's website.

There will be three different packages on offer – priced at £10, £50 and £100 apiece. Don't expect to make any money off the back of the project however, as investors won't receive a financial return on their outlay. Instead, they will get an executive producer credit on the DVD, t-shirts, hooded tops and opportunities to appear as an extra in the film and attend the premiere.

We caught up with Love to discuss the idea, and he explained why it made sense to finance the flick this way. 'The other films I've made, we'd never think about this. But because it's about the common man, we decided it wouldn't be cheeky to ask people if they want to get involved in the film.'

If you're thinking of investing in 'Outlaw' however, you probably want to know a bit more about the story. As Love exclusively revealed to Time Out: 'The film is about a modern day outlaw posse. It's about a group of men in England, from very different walks of life, who for very different reasons and motives, come together and form a gang to try and right what they see as the wrongs in this country.

'It's about the breakdown of law and order in this country and the fact that the public, as individuals, feel let down by the government, feel let down by the police and want to do something about it.'

'Outlaw' is set to shoot in the UK this summer. To see the teaser trailer, click here, and to find out more about the project, head to the film's official website www.outlawthemovie.com (but be warned, the site does contain adult content).

There's nothing new about this idea. In the other instance the makers of a film called 'The Dance' offered a similar scheme, and also made available a copy of the script. It seems to me this is a win-win situation for Love. Posted on Feb 03 2006 14:08

The Football Factory was shot near where I live and I saw them filming. Always been interested in films and it looked like they were having top fun making it - this sounds like a pretty good idea and for 10 quid you can be in the film. Is that right? Wonder if Nick Love will let us direct - ha ha Posted on Jan 30 2006 17:22

This Looks really great! A really innovative idea bringing film to the public in this way! The trailer is horrific, but at least it seems to deal with a real problem in Britain today! Posted on Jan 30 2006 17:21
