Roth returning to 'Hostel'?

Eli Roth talks about his involvement in the proposed sequel to the horror hit.

Feb  2 2006

I visited Eli Roth's 'Hostel' this week, and am pleased to announce that the film is a blast from start to finish, with enough sex, blood, shocks and scares to satisfy even the most depraved of gore-hounds.

Following the film's amazing $20 million opening weekend in the States, talk has immediately and inevitably turned to a sequel. Lionsgate and Screen Gems are already having talks with producers Mike Fleiss and Chris Briggs about a potential follow-up to the flick, but writer-director Eli Roth has been strangely silent on the subject. Until now that is.

Roth recently posted a message on his director's blog in which he discussed the future of the franchise. 'Everyone's talking about 'Hostel 2', which is something I'm definitely interested in doing,' he explained. 'But I want to make sure that if I do it, I do it right, and don't just rush into it and turn out something I'm not 100% proud of.'

I'm meeting up with Eli on Monday to discuss the film, so rest assured I'll grill him on the sequel then, but if anyone's got anything else they want me to ask horror's new golden boy, simply add your questions to the comments section below.

Can't wait to see Hostel. What's going on with The Box though - have he and Richard Kelly finished the script yet? Can't wait to see what weird stuff the pair of them come up with! Posted on Feb 02 2006 12:20
