Hanks is 'Talk of the Town'

Tom Hanks will star in one of three projects that Nia Vardalos is developing.

Feb  8 2006

Nia Vardalos, writer and star of the strangely successful comedy 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', has announced three new features in the pipeline.

First up is 'Talk of the Town', which will be based on an idea that Tom Hanks himself pitched to the writer. Vardalos is keeping the exact details of the script under wraps for now, but she did let slip to Variety that Hanks will play a man who is forced into a career change when he least expects it.

The 'Connie and Carla' star is also working on a romantic comedy called 'I Hate Valentine's Day' in which she explores the concept of the contrived holiday and what happens when romance is forced on us.

Finally, Vardalos has also come up with a potential 'Greek Wedding' follow-up because, as she puts it: 'I've understood the desire for a sequel, because I hear it all the time from my family and everyone I run into at a Starbucks'. Now if she can just make it funny this time around.
