'A Scanner Darkly' trailer arrives online
Richard Linklater and friends present a truly mind-boggling taster of their forthcoming flick.
Feb 20 2006
The full trailer for Richard Linklater's adaptation of Philip K Dick's 'A Scanner Darkly' has hit the net, and it's a visually stunning three minutes of film that truly takes the breath away.
Set in an LA of the near future, where the war on drugs has been lost, the film follows Keanu Reeves' character as he embarks on a confusing journey into a paranoid hell.
And if you're wondering why 'A Scanner Darkly' looks so strange, Linklater has overlaid live action photography with an advanced animation process called 'interpolated rotoscoping' whereby artists draw over the top of the images.
Whether or not this revolutionary technique will be entertaining or just plain annoying for a full 90 minutes remains to be seen, but to check out the unusual results, head to our Top Ten Trailers.
