Kingsley signs up to Scorsese's latest
Sir Ben Kingsley signs up for a role in Martin Scorsese's forthcoming drama
Sir Ben Kingsley has been snapped up for a part in Martin Scorsese’s forthcoming ‘Shutter Island’, which currently boasts the enviable lead-paring of Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo.Marty’s follow-up to his Oscar-nabbing crime saga, ‘The Departed’ is an adaptation of a 2004 novel by Dennis Lehane in which a pair of US marshals visit the eponymous Massachusetts island in 1954 to investigate the disappearance of a patient from a hospital for the criminally insane.
Known by many as the man who blacked-up to play Gandhi, Kingsley ’s career trajectory is a difficult one to pinpoint of late, with roles in trashman Uwe Boll’s ‘BloodRayne’, naff Josh Hartnett vehicle ‘Lucky Number Slevin’ and the recent Arthurian stinker, ‘The Last Legion’ blotching up his CV.
Since his scenery-chewing performance in Jonathan Glazer’s ‘Sexy Beast’ (‘Yes! yes! yes! yes! yes! yes! yes! yes!’), Kingsley hasn’t really been a name to bank on, but here’s hoping that this latest pairing will bring the best out of him.
