Sacha gets serious

Sacha Baron Cohen is set to star in the new film by Steven Spielberg entitled 'The Trial of the Chicago Seven'

Sacha Baron Cohen may have made a mint from being able to fake naivety and saying ‘iss niiice’ a lot, but following on from his supporting role in Tim Burton’s ‘Sweeney Todd’ and the recent announcement that Ali G and Borat are now dead and buried, it looks like the funny/lanky one has signed up to make a film with none other than the Sultan of Schmaltz himself, Steven Spielberg.

There's a chance that all those critics who said that ‘Borat’ was a great demonstration of Cohen’s poise and discretion as an actor may have to put their money where there mouths are as he’s now slap-bang in the middle of ‘The Trial of the Chicago Seven’, true story of a group of anti-Vietnam protesters who were able to disrupt a Democratic party convention in 1968.

From the description, the film looks like it's going to be another solid, moral drama in the vein of 2005's 'Munich', but whether the actor will be able to slip some of his mischievous comic stylings past the Big Steve remains to be seen.
