Indie to open Cannes 2008

It looks like Indiana Jones will be entering the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull at this year's Cannes Film Festival

Last year, the Cannes film festival received some A-list glamour and glitz care of ‘Ocean’s 13’, but it looks like this year, the fourth (and long-in-the-works) ‘Indiana Jones’ picture, directed by Steven Spielberg will have its grand unveiling on the Croisette, according to Variety magazine.

Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett and recent BAFTA newcomer-winner, Shia LaBeouf are all expected to be in town for the doctor’s first archaeological escapade in 19 years, with ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ released way back in 1989.

The screening – if it does go ahead – will occur on May 18, which is a mere four days before it’s put on general release. In the meantime, click here to view the trailer.

The remainder of the Cannes line-up will be announced in April.
