Reitman rides the wave of Juno success

Jason 'Juno' Reitman is mooted to return with Jim Carrey as his leading man

Jason Reitman, son of Hollywood mainstay Ivan (aka the man who lavished the world with such cinematic treats as ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Meatballs’ and ‘Kindergarten Cop’) is set to return on the back of the success he garnered for ‘Juno’ with Jim Carrey as his leading man, reports from Variety have suggested.

The film in question is provisionally titled ‘Pierre, Pierre’ and is said to be about ‘a self-indulgent French nihilist who transports a painting from Paris to London’.

Having recently chalked up quite a tranche of stinkers with the laugh-neutral ‘Fun with Dick and Jane’ and execrable conspiracy thriller ‘The Number 23’, Carrey has not really been in anything decent since 2004’s delightful ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’, so hopefully this will be the role that puts his stretchy talents to good use.

He can next be seen (or rather, heard) in the animated kids film ‘Horton Hears a Who!’, which arrives in UK cinemas on 21 March.
