De Niro and Pacino together again
Robert De Niro and Al Pacino join forces for the first time since 1995's 'Heat'.
Whisk your mind back to 1995, and the news that two of Hollywood’s hardest-punching heavyweights – Robert De Niro and Al Pacino – were going head-to-head in Michael Mann’s ‘Heat’ had a few film fans salivating at the prospect.Thirteen years later, and you’ll be pleased to hear that they’re back in front of the camera together in a New York cop thriller with the clunky title of ‘Righteous Kill’. De Niro and Pacino play two hard-boiled detectives on the hunt of a killer who they soon discover may be one of their own.
From the trailer (which you can see here ), it looks pretty workmanlike, a pale shade of their blistering tête-à-tête in the aforementioned ‘Heat’. On the plus side, however, grizzled straight-to-video veteran Brian Dennehy crops up as their Lieutenant.
The film is slated for release in the US in September 2008.
