Tarkovsky examined

Read about the Tarkovsky 'Pocket Essential' in our new 'Books and Poerty' section.

May 24 2006

Any true fan of film will be aware of 'Pocket Essentials', a series of excellent reference books that deal with the life and times of a variety of filmmakers, from Alfred Hitchcock and Woody Allen to Stephen Spielberg and the Coen Brothers.

The latest addition to the series is Sean Martin's guide to the cinema of Andrei Tarkovsky, the late, great director of 'Stalker','Mirror' and 'Solaris'.

Tackling every aspect of the writer-director's career, Martin examines his work on film, TV and radio as well as his poems, paintings and photography, and the result is a book that is quite simply indispensable for fans of this remarkable Russian filmmaker.
