Burton directs 'Sweeney' Depp
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp will collaborate on a film version of the award-winning musical 'Sweeney Todd'.
Jun 13 2006
Tim Burton has announced plans to direct a big screen version of the Stephen Sondheim musical 'Sweeney Todd', with Johnny Depp in the lead.
Burton's forthcoming collaboration with Jim Carrey, 'Ripley's Believe It or Not' (first reported here) has been put back a year thanks to a spiralling budget, leaving Burton's diary free to work on the musical.
And Johnny Depp has also found a gap in his busy work schedule following Peter Weir's departure from his proposed next flick 'Shantaram'.
'Ripley' fans shouldn't despair however, as both Burton and Carrey plan to return to the fantasy epic towards the end of next year.
