Kidman gets 'Golden Compass'
Nicole Kidman will play Mrs Coulter in the first part of the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy.
Jul 31 2006
After months of speculation, Nicole Kidman has finally been cast as Mrs Coulter in 'The Golden Compass', the film version of the first of Philip Pullman's bestselling 'His Dark Materials' trilogy.
Personally, I'd been hoping that Angelina Jolie would be cast as the villainous, glacial beauty, but then again I hope that Jolie gets cast in every film that goes into production, and anyway, Kidman seems like a good fit for the sinister Coulter.
Newcomer Dakota Blue Richards has already bagged the lead role of Lyra Belacqua, who embarks on an incredible adventure when she realises her family is involved in a terrible worldwide conspiracy.
'The Golden Compass' is set to go into production in September, with Chris Weitz directing.
