'Night of the Hunter' chills and thrills at Somerset House

Chris Tilly recommends the Film4 Summer screen season at the spectacular venue.

Aug 17 2006

A quick heads up for any film lovers who wish to experience a little piece of celluloid heaven in an al fresco setting – head to the Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House quick smart.

I was lucky enough to attend 'Night of the Hunter' at the spectacular venue on Tuesday night, and it was a truly wonderful evening.

Charles Laughton's classic gothic horror never fails to delight, but seeing the film in such grand surroundings made it a truly spectacular experience that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone with even an iota of interest in film.

The season lasts until the weekend, with 'Brazil' screening tonight, 'Starship Troopers' and 'Aliens' tomorrow night and 'The Big Lebowski' on Saturday.

For full details of the event, head to the official site here, and if you do go, make sure you wrap up warm as it does get pretty cold midway through proceedings!
