Russia bans Borat

Apparently, the film contains material that some viewers may find offensive!

Nov  9 2006

Another day, another 'Borat' story, and this time it revolves around federal authorities refusing to release the picture in Russia.

Seems the territory's Agency for Cultural Cinematography felts that Sacha Baron Cohen's brand of satirical humour was a little too close to the bone for the Russian people, and so have banned the film outright.

And according to Variety, it's the first time a non-pornographic film has been outlawed in the country.

Yury Vasyuchkov, a member of the licensing body, said 'The film contains material that some viewers may consider offensive to certain nationalities and religions'. No shit Sherlock – that's the bleeding point!
