Borat batters 'The Prestige'

In spite of the release of Chris Nolan's well-received magic flick 'The Prestige' in London over the weekend, 'Borat' pulled off an impressive trick of his own, holding on to the top spot with ease.

Indeed, the man from Kazakhstan did more than three times the business of 'The Prestige', and his hilarious film is fast becoming the UK's favourite comedy of the year.

Further down the chart, Anthony Minghella's deeply average 'Breaking and Entering' had a deeply average opening weekend, arriving at number three with a gross of £88,278.

The only other new entry was 'Starter for Ten' at five, a disappointing debut for one of the best romantic comedies of the year. Where are you Londoners in love? This is the film you should be taking your dates to!

The only other chart action of note was former Time Out film of the week 'The Page Turner' climbing from eight to seven after two weeks on release. At this rate it will be at number one come the New Year.

Next week it's all about 'Casino Royale', and will be the week after that, and the week after that.
