National Lampoon - the tour

The Van Wilder Rock Tour will travel across America throughout February.

Studios will go to all sorts of lengths to promote their product, from toy and clothing lines to fast food and video-games tie-ins, but a rock concert? Well that’s just what the makers of 'National Lampoon's Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj' have announced this week.

Over the past month, lead actor Kal Penn and some of the artists that appear on the film's soundtrack have been touring college campuses promoting the film, and such has been the success of their travels that a series of rock concerts are now being planned.

The month-long, 12-date Van Wilder Rock Tour runs throughout February, though as the film hits US screens this week, it's unlikely to boost box office numbers, with only DVD and CD soundtrack sales likely to be affected.

If it catches on however, the mind boggles at what films could follow suit, from Sylvester Stallone taking on all comers to promote 'Rocky Balboa' to Borat travelling Israel with his 'Throw the Jew Down the Well' tour. Though to be honest, we'd pay to see both.
