Bond pummels penguins

Happy Feet' and 'The Holiday' were no match for 'Casino Royale' in London cinemas.

Dec 12 2006

Dancing penguins and the combined might of Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black were no match for Bond at the top of the London chart over the weekend, with 'Casino Royale' taking the top spot for the fourth week in a row.

Romantic comedy 'The Holiday' therefore came in at number two, a fine result considering it was going head-to-head with global smash 'Happy Feet'.

The animated fable came in at number three, a disappointment considering the penguins have pretty much owned the top spot in every other territory.

That meant that 'Borat' has finally dropped out of the top two for the first time in six weeks, but the hilarious comedy is still going strong at four.

Further down the chart, it's dull, dull, dull, with everything shifting down a place or two and sod all else happening.

Next week, with such a lack of quality on release, 'The Wizard of Oz' could surprise everyone by entering high.
