Connery comes out of retirement

Sean Connery hints that he might reprise his role as Henry Jones in the fourth Indinana Jones flick.

After a career spanning over 50 years, Sean Connery's cavernous brogue has been conspicuously missing from the silver screen of late, but perhaps not for long.

After repeatedly claiming that he has retired from films – following clashes with the director of 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' in 2002 – Connery has revealed to Scotland on Sunday that he may reprise his role as Indiana Jones' father in the series' fourth instalment; he last played Dr. Henry Jones in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' almost two decades ago.

Producer George Lucas personally approached Connery to reprise the role and the actor says he is seriously considering it, but is hasty not to make any promises. 'At the moment there's nothing decided,' the actor said. 'I haven't got the script. Everything depends on the script.'

The Scottish-born actor has not made any financial demands although he has said he would only do it if the production company made him 'an offer I couldn't refuse.' If he did take the part, Connery would be looking at a possible £10 million and a share of the film's gross, which is sure to be ample. The last 'Indy' film was one the highest grossing of all time, and many put that down to the chemistry between Connery and Harrison Ford, who is already confirmed for 'Indiana Jones 4'.

Filming is to start in June and the film is set for release in May 2008. No plot details have been revealed but Lucas described the film as a 'character piece.'
