Dante dons 'Kaleidoscope Eyes'

Joe Dante will direct Martin Scorsese and Roger Corman in this fictional account of the making of 'The Trip'.

Joe Dante is a director seemingly lost in the wilderness. Responsible for the likes of 'Piranha' and 'Gremlins' more than two decades ago, his recent output has been woeful, consisting of the god-awful likes of 'Small Soldiers' and 'Looney Tunes Back in Action'.

Because of those early flicks however, he'll always have a special place in my heart, so I'm pleased to hear that he'll be returning to cinema screens later this year with a film entitled 'The Man with Kaleidoscope Eyes'.

And being account of the making of Roger Corman's infamous drug movie 'The Trip', the film seems to fit in with Dante's mischievous, rebellious nature.

Producer/director Corman dropped acid in 1967 while researching the Jack Nicholson/Peter Fonda pic, and Dante's film will be a fictional account of that shoot and the counterculture scene that surrounded it.

Martin Scorsese, Jonathan Demme and John Sayles, all of whom worked with Corman, will have cameos in the $7 million film, which is due to shoot later this year.
