Another 'Lives of Others'

The Weinstein Company plan to produce and English-language remake of the Oscar-winning pic.

Hot on the heels of its Oscar win, Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella have announced plans to shoot an English language remake of best foreign film 'The Lives of Others'.

A story of intrigue and espionage set in East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall, it's not clear who will helm the pic yet, but both directors will produce under a new deal with The Weinstein Company.

'Both Sydney and I are delighted to be renewing our relationship with Bob and Harvey at The Weinstein company' said Minghella. 'We've enjoyed their support and enthusiasm over many years. It's a real partnership and it works'.

Others project that will be developed during the three-year deal include the film adaptation of novels 'The Amulet of Samarkand', 'The Ninth Life of Louis Drax', 'The Reader' and 'I Don’t Know How She Does It' (to be directed by 'Devil Wears Prada' helmer David Frankel).
