Crowe directs 'Bra Boys'

Australian superstar Russell Crowe will make his directorial debut with a film about surfers.

Mar 22 2007

Thanks to the mirthless 'A Good Year', we've already found out that Russell Crowe can't do comedy, now we're about to find out whether he can direct or not.

The 'Gladiator' star is about to make his directorial debut with 'Bra Boys', a drama about an Australian counterculture movement that will be based on true events.

The script will be adapted from a Crowe-narrated documentary of the same name about three brothers who began an underground surfer movement in the Sydney seaside suburb of Maroubra.

Stuart Beattie ('Collateral') is currently penning the script, which will also be based on a forthcoming non-fiction book about the boys, although there's no word yet on start date or whether Crowe will also appear as one of the 'Bra Boys' in question.
