Gambon and Thompson visit 'Brideshead'

The cast is now set for Julian Jarrold's $20m adaptation of the classic novel.

Apr 20 2007

The cast for period piece 'Brideshead Revisited' is shaping up nicely, with British acting institutions Emma Thompson and Michael Gambon signing up for the $20m adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's classic novel.

Gambon will play the aristocratic patriach Lord Marchmain, while Thompson has been cast as his devout and controlling wife. They join Ben Whishaw, Matthew Goode and and Hayley Atwell, who will play the three members of the film's central love triangle.

Andrew Davies and Jeremy Brock have written the script, with 'Becoming Jane' director Julian Jarrold helming the project.

'Brideshead Revisited' will shoot in Yorkshire, Oxford, Venice and Morocco from June.
