Witherspoon journeys 'Under the Bridge'
Reese Witherspoon is developing a film based on high school murder novel 'Under the Bridge'.
May 4 2007
Reese Witherspoon's Type A Films have acquired the rights to brutal true-life murder story 'Under the Bridge'.
Based on Rebecca Godfrey's book of the same name, the film will focus on the 1997 killing of high school student Reena Virk at the hands of her fellow students.
Godfrey hails from the same area, and when she heard about the case, returned home to research the eight teenagers charged with the murder as well as the class divides that were rife in the school. In an interesting twist of fate, Type A have not only bought the rights to the book but also to Godfrey's life story with a view to including her as a character in the film.
'Thirteen' helmer Catherine Hardwicke is in talks to direct the pic, though it's not known at this time if Witherspoon will star.
