Ethan Hawke takes on 'Daybreakers'

The 'Training Day' star will star in the Spierig brothers' forthcoming vampire epic.

May  9 2007

It's taken more than two years to get the project off the ground, but Australia's Spierig brothers have finally cast the lead in vampire flick 'Daybreakers', with a view to shooting in Australia in July.

Ethan Hawke will star in the horror epic, which twins Peter and Michael exclusively told us way back in January 2005 will be 'more serious, darker, scarier and much grander in scope' than their likeable previous effort 'Undead'.

Set in 2017 when vampires have become the dominant species on earth, Hawke will play a researcher who finds a way to transform the blood-suckers back into humans.

The brilliant boys and girls of Weta Workshop will provide the film's special effects, with 'Daybreakers' set to hit screens next summer.
