Prepare for 'The Women'
Meg Ryan, Annette Bening and Eva Mendes are set to star in a forthcoming all-female flick.

Chick flick alert – hot on the heels of Reese Witherspoon announcing plans to revisit 1939 classic 'Midnight', a whole host of Hollywood's leading ladies are getting in on the act, signing up to star in a remake of another screwball comedy from that year in the shape of 'The Women'.
Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing and Candice Bergen have all been cast in a contemporary version of the George Cukor's flick about a group of female friends who take bitchiness to new levels when it turns out the husband of their number is cheating.
The original promised a cast of 135 women versus no men, and if writer-director Diane English takes the same approach, we could have an intriguing prospect on our hands (although the fact that Mick Jagger is producing should supply the production with all the testosterone it needs).
'The Women' is set to roll before cameras this August.

I have just finished teaching a course on a revised view of Clare Luce`s `The Women` and wow! do I have an approach to that play.
If I could beg, I would BEG Kevin Spacey to allow me to direct MY version.
I have never seen an adaptation which does justice to the original. Never. And I interviewed Cukor and we talked about it. I interviewed Anita Loos and we talked about it.
So fie on Mick Jagger and fie on Diane English and fie on the *** and the *** Etc.
