'Teen Titans' coming to town

Warner Bros are set to make a film based on the crime-fighting comic book stars.

Jun  1 2007

With 'Spider-Man 3' currently doing the business in cinemas and 'Iron Man' and 'The Incredible Hulk' and 'The Dark Knight' all in production, superhero flicks are definitely back in Hollywood fashion, which is doubtless why Warner Bros have this week announced plans to bring the 'Teen Titans' to the big screen.

Based on the DC Comics' series that first appeared in 1964, the Titans are a group of superhero sidekicks who band together to fight crime. They include Robin, Kid Flashman, Aqualad and Wonder Girl.

The comic book was re-launched in the 1980s with more adult themes, while a hugely successful animated show screened on the Cartoon Network from 2003 to 2006.

'Batman & Robin' writer Akiva Goldmsan is producing, and promises that the film's tone will be consistent with recent Warner Bros adaptations 'Batman Begins' and 'Superman Returns'.
