'Thundercats' are on the move!
Feel the magic - hear the roar - the 1980s cartoon is set for a blockbusting live-action overhaul.
Jun 6 2007
The 'Thundercats' are on the move, with Warner Bros planning a big screen adventure for the violent cat people whose animated show was one of the most popular cartoons of the 1980s.
The film will be a live action origin story explaining how Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra and the rest of the cat people left planet Thundera for Third earth, and how Lion-O came of age as their leader. It will also introduce the cartoon's arch-villain Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer hell-bent on killing the cats.
An actual green-light will doubtless depend on the success of 'Transformers' this summer, but with Michael Bay's big budget bot-flick looking like a sure-fire blockbuster, the 'Thundercats' should be on the loose sooner rather than later.
