Bond director announced

Marc Forster to direct Daniel Craig in the new 007 flick

Jun 20 2007

Director Marc Forster will take the helm of the 22nd James Bond film.

The Bond first-timer – best known for his emotionally impactful dramas including 'Finding Neverland' and 'Monster's Ball' begin filming the next 007 flick in December at Pinewood studios in London.

Forster is about to start work with writer Paul Haggis on a draft of the screenplay by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade.

And the most successful Bond ever, Daniel Craig, will take the lead role again. Last year’s 'Casino Royale' (Craig’s first outing as 007) became the biggest hit in the 45-year-old franchise, taking around £300m globally.

Of his appointment, Forster told Screen Daily: ‘I have always been drawn to different kinds of stories and I have also always been a Bond fan, so it is very exciting to take on this challenge.

‘The new direction that the Bond character has taken offers a director a host of new possibilities.’

Before Bond hits the screens Forster’s next film 'The Kite Runner' is due for release early next year.

Daniel Craig is the best thing to happen to bond films ever. At least with him you get a realistic picture of who bond is not like his gadget ridden, overacting predecessors like brosnan and moore. I hope we get a lot more bond films with craig in them. Posted on Jun 23 2007 08:33

No, Colin Farrell would not be a good Bond. Like Daniel Craig, he doesn't have much class in his dealings with media or in personal life; unlike Pierce Brosnan. Some may say, Well, it's just an actor. But I feel that the actor playing Bond is sort of an ambassador for even-temperedness. I don't want to spend money to watch a bum playing Bond.
Ie, Daniel Craig also has little class. And of course he doesn't look or act like Bond. He's the anti Bond. How can he be suave, cool 007?
