Golden Globes Announced

'Sideways' and 'The Aviator' lead the field, while the Brits have chipped in with a few nominations of their own.

The Golden Globe nominations have been announced, and Alexander Payne's bittersweet comedy 'Sideways' leads the field with seven nominations, closely followed by Martin Scorsese's 'The Aviator' with six.

Split into two categories – drama and musical or comedy – the former was made up of 'The Aviator', 'Closer',' Finding Neverland', 'Hotel Rwanda', 'Kinsey' and 'Million Dollar Baby', while the latter included 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', 'The Incredibles', and 'The Phantom of the Opera', 'Ray' and 'Sideways'.

In the acting categories meanwhile, Jamie Foxx caused a stir by being nominated as best actor and best supporting actor for 'Ray' and 'Collateral' respectively, while Clive Owen, Liam Neeson, Imelda Staunton, Kate Winslet and Patrick Marber held the British end up by receiving nominations.

The ceremony takes place on January 16 and the full list of nominees are:
