Director Committing Daylight Robbery

A bungled robbery, Huckleberry Finn and a film about the London Marathon are all set to go into production.

'Enduring Love' director Roger Michell has announced his upcoming slate of movies, and they include a big screen account of the doomed Millennium Dome diamond heist.

Speaking at the Rotterdam film festival, Michell said that the movie, entitled 'The Rip' and currently being scripted by David Logan, will be loosely based on the real-life events of the 2000 raid.

Before that however, the director will produce 'Marathon', the overlapping story of six people competing in the famous London race.

Backed by Working Title, the project is being written and directed by Tim Sullivan ('Jack and Sarah'), and Michell has described it as 'a wonderfully pluralistic English movie with lots of stories meeting and mingling in that incredible stew of the marathon…it's very, very moving.'

Michell also revealed that he hopes to direct a big screen adaptation of Huckleberry Finn at Paramount, based on a Michael Tolkin script, and claimed that it will be the 'first adult version' of the story, nearer to Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' than the typical kids' film.
