Almodóvar Announces Next Project

In no particular order, Pedro's next film will revolve around ghosts, tango and women.

Feb  8 2005

Pedro Almodóvar has announced that he will re-team with 'All About My Mother' star Penélope Cruz on his next film, ‘Volver’.

Examining the relationships between three generations of women – a grandmother, a daughter and a granddaughter – the film will be Almodóvar's first since last year's critically acclaimed 'Bad Education'.

Set in Madrid and his own native La Mancha, Almodóvar revealed that the film's action will involve both ghosts and tango, and while this sounds suspiciously like a bad episode of 'Rentaghost', we're prepared to give Spain's most eccentric director the benefit of the doubt.

He also told journalists that although 'Volver' won't be 100% comedy, it will be light and funny in tone.

And as well as reuniting the director with Cruz, it will also star Chus Lampreave, who previously starred in Almodóvar's 'Matador' and 'Dark Habits' more than 20 years ago.

Production is due to start in June.
