Samuel L Jackson's got the blues
'Pulp Fiction' actor in negotiations to join Christina Ricci in Deep South drama
Jun 24 2005
Samuel L Jackson looks set to play the lead in 'Black Snake Moan' alongside cult star Christina Ricci.
The part would see Jackson play a blues guitarist who, having been abandoned by his wife, tries to save the soul of a young female sex addict (Ricci) in a small southern American town.
Justin Timberlake is currently in negotiations to play Ricci's boyfriend in the film, which will be written and directed by Craig Brewer of 'Hustle & Flow' acclaim.
'Hustle & Flow' picked up the Audience Award at this year's Sundance Film Festival, and the film's director has won many fans with his surprisingly intelligent pimp-rap drama – which was produced by 'Boyz N the Hood' director John Singleton.
If all goes to plan, filming on 'Black Snake Moan' should begin this September in Memphis.
UK cinema-goers will be able to see 'Hustle & Flow' when it is released in November (to see the trailer click here).
