OutKast movie details

Andree 3000 and Big Boi star in a prohibition-era musical set in the deep south.

Sep  9 2005

Further details concerning R&B outfit OutKast's first movie have hit the net.

The as-yet-untitled pic, which stars Andre Benjamin and Antwan Patton (aka Andre 3000 and Big Boi), will be a period piece set in the deep south during the prohibition era of the 1930s.

The story will take place in and around a speakeasy where Benjamin is the house pianist and Patton is the manager, trying to fend off local hoods who want to take over his club.

Written and directed by first-timer Bryan Barber, the film will be an all-singing, all-dancing musical, with cameos from the likes of soul stars Macy Gray and Patti LaBelle.

OutKast release the soundtrack album later this year, while the film itself will hit screens sometime in 2006.

Before then, Benjamin will be seen in John Singleton's 'Four Brothers' (out on September 30) and Guy Ritchie's 'Revolver' (released September 22).
