Prestigious roles for Bale and Jackman

Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are set to co-star in Chris Nolan's magical thriller 'The Prestige'.

Oct  3 2005

The director and star of 'Batman Begins' are all set to re-team on period thriller 'The Prestige' early next year.

Christopher Nolan, who directed 'Memento' and 'Insomnia' before boarding the bat-franchise, wants Bruce Wayne himself, Christian Bale, to play one of the leads in his adaptation of Christopher Priest's novel.

A magical thriller, the book kicks off in London in 1878, and tells the tale of two stage magicians who develop a bitter rivalry that leads to treachery, corruption and eventually, murder.

Hugh Jackman is in talks to play Bale's nemesis.

Nolan and his brother are currently working on the script, with production likely to start in January.

Before then, Bale will be seen in Darren Aronofsky's 'The Fountain' and 'X-Men' sequel 'X3', while Bale is starring in Terrence Malick's 'The New World' and David Ayer's 'Harsh Times'.
