Pitt and Norton to re-team

Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are to work together for National Geographic and HBO miniseries

Oct 10 2005

'Fight Club' duo Edward Norton and Brad Pitt are to re-team for HBO and National Geographic's 10-part TV miniseries 'Courage'.

An adaptation of Stephen Ambrose's 'Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West', it will also be co-produced under Norton's Class 5 and Pitt's Plan B banners.

The book tells the story of how explorers Lewis and William Clarke began the first overland expedition in 1803 across the North American wilderness to the Pacific coast.

The journey took the pair three years and changed the American frontier forever.

Norton told Variety that he was a big fan of the book and the pieces quickly fell into place after he had dinner with National Geographic producer Tim Kelly.

'We both agreed that compressing that story in a feature-length film ruined the spirit of it, so we sat down and said "how can we do this justice?"' explained Norton.

The actor will also use the series as an opportunity to flex his directing muscles again having not stepped behind the camera since 2000's 'Keeping the Faith'.

However, with both Norton and Pitt involved in multiple projects at the moment it may be a while before we see this fascinating slice of American history hit the small screen.
