Ricky Gervais and his writing partner Stephen Merchant are soon to start work on their first feature film.
The comic duo, who are currently hard at work writing the second series of 'Extras', are keeping tight-lipped about the exact nature of the film, but Gervais did reveal some general information about the project today.
'We want to do something no one else can do' he told the Media Guardian. 'Or improve on something that has been done before. You're allowed to tell the same old stories, as long as you tell it better.'
He continues 'Boy meets girl is pretty much as good as it gets. Redemption, overcoming a struggle. These are stories that have been told a million times before. It's whether you do them well or badly. Or worse, indifferently.'
Gervais make his big screen debut as a studio head in Christopher Guest's film industry spoof 'For Your Consideration' next year.
He also told the Guardian of plans to turn both his 'Flanimals' children's books into films.
