DiCaprio to save the environment

Leo to make a documentary about the problems facing the planet's ecosystem.

Dec  7 2005

Leonardo DiCaprio has announced plans to make a feature-length documentary examining the state of the global environment.

The film, which will be called '11th Hour', will also suggest solutions to help restore the planet's ecosystem.

DiCaprio, who has worked to raise environmental awareness through his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, will produce, co-write and direct the film, while Leila Conners Peterson and Nadia Conners will co-direct.

Speaking of his reasons for making the film, DiCaprio said: 'Global warming is not only the No.1 environmental challenge we face today, but one of the most important issues facing all of humanity'.

'11th Hour' is set to hit screens late next year, followed by an in-depth DVD.
