Singleton to lead 'Convoy'

'Four Brothers' helmer John Singleton is in talks to direct a remake of the Sam Peckinpah action-adventure.

Dec  8 2005

Having made one of the sleeper hits of the summer in the shape of 'Four Brothers', John Singleton has announced plans to direct an action–adventure flick called 'Convoy'.

Loosely based on Sam Peckinpah’s 1978 cult classic of the same name (reviewed here) this modern-day update will be written by Art Macum and Matt Holloway and revolve around a group of truckers who take extreme action to make a fast buck.

The drivers sign year-long contracts to transport goods through the Afghan war zone, a decision that places them all in a series of dangerous, hair-raising and potentially life-threatening situations.

'Convoy', which has yet to be cast, is due to start production after Singleton finishes work on crime drama 'Fear and Respect'.
