'Magnum' movie announced

The team behind hit comedy 'Dodgeball' will bring the TV classic to the big screen.

Jan 24 2006

'Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story' helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber has announced plans to write and direct a film version of the hit TV series 'Magnum P.I.'.

The hugely successful Hawaii-set TV series, which starred Tom Selleck as private investigator Thomas Magnum, ran from 1980 to 1988, and ever since its demise, rumours have circulated that it would make the transfer to cinema screens.

Thurber has revealed that the film won't be a 'Starsky and Hutch' style spoof however, but rather a direct translation of the show.

The storyline will revolve around Magnum searching for a missing friend with the help of his former military buddies.

There's no word yet regarding who will play the title character, though George Clooney's name has been mentioned several times in connection with the project.

Our opinion however, is that walking, talking 'tache Selleck should retain the role - after all - if it ain't broke...

I think Jack Black should play Magnum, after all, he already destroyed the role in King Kong - so if they arenot going to use Selleck, use someone who will really -$#%&^#$$%# it up - Jack Black!!! Posted on Feb 08 2008 14:30

What is the hold up? This movie has been rumored for years. George Clooney needs to keep on walking and Selleck better be in it with the other regular guys. Anything less is pure Hollywood imagineless junk. Say no to cheap Hollywood re-productions with secondary characters. Posted on Jun 21 2006 17:01
