Lance Armstrong cycles onto screen

Frank Marshall plans to adapt both 'The Lance Armstrong Story' and 'The Perfect Mile' for the big screen.

Jan 26 2006

Frank Marshall has announced plans to make a big screen biopic of American cyclist Lance Armstrong.

The legendary sportsman overcame testicular cancer to win the Tour de France an amazing seven times, so his life story is ripe for the big-screen treatment.

And Matt Damon is currently favourite to land the coveted role, a subject that will surely be discussed when Marshall produces and Damon stars in 'The Bourne Ultimatum' this summer.

'The Lance Armstrong Story' will kick off a busy time for Marshall, who is also hoping to make a film version of Neil Bascomb's book 'The Perfect Mile', which revolves around John Landy, Wes Santee and Roger Bannister's efforts to break the four minute mile.

And if that weren't enough, Marshall will be producing 'Indiana Jones 4' (if it ever gets made) and attempting to get a biopic of jazz legend Django Reinhardt off the ground. Which by our estimates will keep him busy for the next 30 years.

I was told he has a biological advantage over other riders - lactic acid can't build up in his legs, so they never feel tired. Also he's two testes lighter than other riders. Posted on Jan 27 2006 10:54
