'The Beat That My Heart Skipped' dominates Cesars

Jacques Audiard's well received drama wins eight awards at the prestigious French ceremony.

Feb 27 2006

One of The TOMB's favourite films of 2005 was 'The Beat That My Heart Skipped'.

Jacques Audiard's remake of the 1978 flick 'Fingers' transferred the story to present-day Paris and, in my opinion, managed to improve on James Toback's original.

And it seems that France's most prestigious film awards agreed, as they bestowed eight Cesars on the film at the weekend, including best picture and best director.

Indeed, the only surprise was that star Roman Duris didn't win the best actor award, with that honour going to Michel Bouquet for his remarkable performance as Francois Mitterrand in 'The Last Mitterrand'.

For a full list of Cesar winners, head to the official website here, and if you missed 'The Beat That My Heart Skipped' in cinemas, the film hits DVD on March 27 and we thoroughly recommend you check it out.
