Marliyn Manson visits 'Phantasmagoria'
Having been overlooked for the role of Willy Wonka, the rocker is planning his first foray into film.
Feb 27 2006
Marilyn Manson, the infamous overlord of goth rock, is extending his dark reaches to direct his first film.
'Phantasmagoria' is to be a screen adaptation of the visions of 'Alice in Wonderland' creator Lewis Carroll.
Loosely based on Carroll's poem of the same name, 'Phantasmagoria' will feature a series of four short films, the first of which explores the origins of Tweedledee and Tweedledum, played by twin sisters.
Manson will star as the drug-addled author as well as writing the script and the musical score. Supermodel Lily Cole will play Alice and Angelina Jolie is in talks to play the part of the Red Queen.
Shooting starts this summer on location in and around Europe.
Whether Manson's screen venture will attract as much controversy as his music remains to be seen, but expect Christian parents across America to be playing the film backwards in search of satanic messages...
