'Syriana' continues to top London chart

Clooney's film remains on top, while 'The Proposition' and 'The Hills Have Eyes' are high new entries.

Mar 14 2006

Buoyed no doubt by their success at the Oscars, 'Syriana' and 'Capote' continued to hold on to the top two spots at the London box office over the weekend.

Indeed 'Syriana' grossed more than twice that of its nearest rival, an impressive haul for such a seemingly uncommercial feature.

Nick Cave's 'The Proposition' was a new entry at number three, and thanks to brilliant reviews across the board, it should stick around for a while.

And 'The Hills Have Eyes' came straight in at number four, proving that horror remakes are as popular in London as they are everywhere else at the moment.

Aside from that there's little action on the chart, although 'Brokeback Mountain' does manage an amazing tenth week inside the top ten.

Next week, 'V for Vendetta' and 'Tsotsi' should both stir things up at the top.
