Ned Kelly (1970)
Director: Tony Richardson
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Richardson's bushranger biopic merely applies a simplistic gloss to the 'outlaw' image already projected onto Jagger by the British media, and his role as the legendary Australian anti-hero emerges as little more than an uncomfortable displacement of his tabloid notoriety. The beard and iron mask Jagger assumes for the part obscure his specific rock/cultural persona as effectively as they do his features; and overall this outback Western comes a poor second to Mad Dog, the later Philippe Mora/Dennis Hopper outlaw movie also shot down under.Author: PT
