Night Crossing (1982)
Director: Delbert Mann
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Scrapings of the Disney barrel in this true story of two East German families (supplied in best Disney tradition with two kids apiece) perilously escaping to the West in a flimsy, homemade hot-air balloon. Despite valiant efforts by the cast to overcome unimaginative stereotyping, didactic moralising makes the film largely unpalatable, and the excitement, although piled on, never really mounts. It's hard to care whether the families make it or not.Author: FD
