The Norseman (1978)
Director: Charles B Pierce
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
'Wizard, what say your signs about this New Land?' asks Lee Majors - playing a permed Bionic Bjorn of a Viking prince - of soothsayer Jack Elam in AIP's idea of Norsespeak. The New Land is Vineland (America), and the Six Million Dollar Viking and his crew have rowed across in AD 1006 in search of his father who, it turns out, has been captured and blinded by cartoon Indians who resemble Grateful Dead roadies given the freedom of the make-up department. From then on, even Mel Brooks couldn't have improved on it: hilarious dialogue, eccentrically filmed battle scenes, Cornel Wilde and Mel Ferrer both in beards behind which to hide their embarrassment.Author: AC
